Things that have influenced your life

Post by Bookworm »

What people or events have had the greatest influence on your life? The first thing I can think of is the death of my 16-year-old brother when I was 13. Life just wasn't the same from that point on. Every day needed to be lived with meaning because life was fragile.

Another influence was my private religious high school and college training. I'm sure I would be a different person today if I had attended secular schools.

A third influence is my post office job. Not that the job itself has had much of an impact, but I got the job directly out of college, and I was newly married with a wife to support, so I stayed with the job instead of trying to figure out some way to go on to seminary and become a pastor. I always have in the back of my head, that after I retire from the post office, I just might get myself some more training and finally become a pastor.

The biggest influences for me would probably be my Parents. I dont think that a lot of people influence me that much. I try not to be influenced by others and just be myself, but that doesnt stop bits seeping through though.

As for events, well I suppose it would be the usual bad/good events. 7/7 really brought on the realisation of how close to home that terrorism happens. So somewhat that has infleunced me.

Which event was 7/7? I'm sure I've heard of it, but I don't know it by the date.

Things that have influenced your life

well, I'd have to say the first thing that influenced my life and made it the way it is today that I can remember were the people who picked on me in elementry school, they made me not think to highly of myself, I still don't, sometimes I think I'm just a washed out waste of life....but then I realize they are.......the biggest influence however is my dad, and he still is....because he has always been there, and I mean always, there was not a day I needed something that he wasnt there, thirdly, there is my brother, he always used to hit on me and stuff, but thats what an older bro is supposed to do, otherwise the little nes would grow up to be wusses, and never defend themselves. another has been my friends, who are probably most of the reason I'm still alive. another is my Mom, and this isn't really too positive, I have been an adult since I was 11 years old, which is really messed up in my book, I didnt really have much time to just be a kid....and thats because I went to foster care when I was 10, that'll mature you up so fast you'll wonder where your childhood went....my life is pretty crappy right now but I live it one day at a time......
