Final Fantasy
Does anyone like the Final Fantasy series? I sure do, Final Fantasy is a fun RPG (Role-Playing Game) mixed with magical attributes, and melee attacks. The recently released Final Fantasy XI in the U.S. about 2 years ago, it's an online MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) and you can interract with other people, start parties to kill monsters, gain levels. Do missions to raise your rank among the cities, and do quests within the town to raise your fame, in order to do more quests later on to help you in the jobs you have.
The kind of jobs you can be are: White Mage (Healer) Black Mage (Magical Attacks) Red Mage (A mix between White Mage, Black Mage, and a little bit of melee) Warrior (A tank for parties early on in the game) Monk (Uses his fists to fight) Thief (Good for finding spoils off of monsters)
Advanced Jobs: Summoner (Summons certain monsters to help you do battle) Dragoon (Summons a Wyvern to do battle along side) Samurai (Can also be a tank, usually a back-up tank) Beastmaster (Charms monsters to fight along side) Bard (Sings to the party to help them in battle) Paladin (A tank with the power to heal himself) Dark Knight (A warrior with the power to cast magical attacks) Ninja (Becomes a great tank after level 12)
If I forgot any others, I will add them afterwards.
Final Fantasy XI is a Pay to Play game. It's $13 dollars a month, if I remember correctly. Plus, an additional dollar for each character. It's fun. I think they still offer one month free if you buy it. Not sure about that. But, it's a great game, overall, if you like Final Fantasy.

I find those I mentioned appealing because you have this dark, near hopeless plot, though you don't feel down playing it. It's a wonderful mix of positivity and deep plot.Shinizo wrote: Ahh. I like FFIX the best. I have FF, FFII, FFIII, FFIV, FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX, FFX, FFX-2, and FFXI.

I haven't beaten FFVIII yet, so don't ruin it for me!
I'll beat it eventually. I never get around to play it since I lost one of the CDs.

I'm not down with FF, really. I prefer more free-form RPGs where, while there is still a somewhat linear story, your actions have more of an impact on the outcome.

As for the mmo version of it, I found it to be waaaay too tedious vs. other mmo's I've tried.

'Fable' sounds interesting, but I don't have an X-Box. All I have is a PS2 and computer - do most of my gaming on my comp.

Yeah, that's the only thing bad about Fable. It should be multi-platform.

Yes, Fallout 2, DEFINATELY what I was talking about! Morrowind (from the guys making the third Fallout now), plus some hybrid-genre games (Deus Ex is a rpg-fps that I highly enjoyed) I also enjoyed. Nowadays, the only RPGs I play are the MMO variety.Stasi wrote:a la Fallout 2, BG2, etc... good stuff.sintekk wrote: I'm not down with FF, really. Morrowind is one of the most free-form RPGs I've ever played, but I just never got heavily into it. I also loved Deus Ex. If you enjoyed that, you might enjoy the more recent 'Vampire - The Masquerade: Bloodlines'. It's a hybrid RPG that I thoroughly enjoy. I was quite suprised to hear a couple of obscure bands I like in the soundtrack, too, most notably Chiasm and Genitorturers. Anyway, especially if you like Vampires at all, check it out. Excellent plot and immersive atmosphere....sintekk wrote:Yes, Fallout 2, DEFINATELY what I was talking about! Strictly speaking, Dante isn't a vampire. He's half demon, half human.
Anyway, you HAVE to try FFVI. It's one of the best in the series.

After I finish X-2 I'm going to go back and play FFVII, which I never managed to complete for some reason or another.
