Mezmerize
Apparently part of a 2-disc set, Mezmerize/Hypnotize, with the latter set to be released in the fall. Listen to a copy this weekend, anyone else heard it? Of course the single is B.Y.O.B., I like a couple of tracks, thoughts?

Yeah most music stores sell CD-Rs so you should be good.
I've always found that ironic though. Next time I go to jumbo video I'll check if they sell DVD-Rs LOL would be funny.

So, after some listening to this album, my attitude has shifted slightly more positive towards it, but it is still not as good as it could be. I like a little under half of the album, but the ones I like I really like.
Stand-outs:
Revenga
This Cocaine Makes Me Feel Like I'm On This Song*
Question!
Sad Statue
Anywho, that's my opinion so far.

I haven't listened to it too much, but so far I kinda like it. This album, however, is one that you can definitely not take too seriously. Otherwise there are only a few tolerable tracks as half the songs are a laugh riot at how blatantly stupid they are, both in composition and subject matter. But I've always listened to SoaD as more of a fun metal band than a serious one.

Isin't rock the same as metal? Metal is just more like hard rock type thing. Then you got heavy metal that's metal, but harder. etc but to me it's still the same, or at least close enough

Haha true, especially Deathmetal, usually 4 people lined on on a stage and all you see is hare moving at very high speeds in all directions, acompanied by what sounds like industrial power tools. (they call it music though)

Well, there's "Death Metal", that's with all the BLEARGH IMAKILL JOO, but metal to me is just harder sounding rock, between regular rock and industrial in terms of that heavy beat. I'm not much for genre discussion, so maybe I've misunderestimated the classifications though.

I'll give you an example in metal.. As, they want you dead.
Voices - Disturbed. (I'll edit the curse words)
So, are you breathing
No, no
Are you breathing
So, are you breathing
No
[x2]
Wake up, are you alive
Will you listen to me
I'm gonna talk about some freaky s*** now
Someone is gonna die
When you listen to me
Let the living die, Let the living die
(say)
[Chorus:]
Are you breathing, no?
Do the wicked see you?
You still breathing?
You're making me known
Are you breathing, no?
Do the wicked see you?
You still breathing?
[x2]
What's up, I wonder why
Do you listen to me
I'm gonna make you do some freaky s*** now
Insane, you're gonna die
When you listen to me
Let the living die, Let the living die
(say)
[Chorus]
I can hear the voice
But I don't want to listen
Strap me down and tell me
I'll be alright
I can feel the subliminal need
To be one with the voice
And make everything alright
So, are you breathing?
Can't you imagine how good going through this will make you feel
I promise, no one will ever know
There will be no chance of you getting caught
They never loved you anyway
So come on, be a man
And do what you are compelled to do Save Me God, God [x10]
I can hear the voice But I don't want to listen
Strap me down and tell me I'll be alright
I can feel the subliminal need To be one with the voice
And make everything alright
I can hear the voice But I don't want to listen
Strap me down and tell me I'll be alright
I can feel the subliminal need To be one with the voice
And make everything alright
[Chorus]
So, are you breathing? So, do you breathe no, no?
So, are you breathing? So, do you breathe no?
I think I edited out all the curse words. Got the song with the least in them But, there it is. Death by lyrics.

Sorry, I like disturbed and all, but to say they are "more metal" than SOAD is silly. Metal is about the broadest genre of music out there; from thrash to speed to black and death metal, to more mellow forms like progressive and nu metal. SOAD utilizes quite a few metal styles, while Disturbed, just one. And their last one, more rock(maybe hard rock) than metal(And I'm a disturbed fan!). Metal isn't labeled that because of the subject manner, but by it's overall sound(Not just lyrical content either). It sounds like you only listen to certain types of metal, so please don't mistake that for the only kind out there.

System of a Down isn't metal! I put Mezmerize into the computer, and it came up as 'Rock' on iTunes. Metal is a different Genre, because it mixes with the lyrics, System of a Down doesn't really want you dead, so it's more of an Alternative Rock.MrSelf wrote:+1manadren wrote:

Trust me, don't listen to iTunes for classification of genres ><
And, NO, system of a down is most certainly NOT alternative rock. I'll settle on just Rock, no less
