History Of The Anything Forums

I was just reading in The world's longest thread the conversation between greeneyes, FloodG8-9595 and sintekk and it got me to thinking. I was a member of The 'old" Anything Forums when some of the people they were talking about were stilll around. I was just coming when they were leaving. It was the first forum experience I ever had and I loved it, it was such a charming place. (Then everything went to hell...lol). I stopped coming and while I was gone they started all over...I eventually came back and signed up again. Some of the old members pop in once in awhile, others I never see, really old members I just hear about. I've heard really interesting stories/history/information about this place while I've been a member and it's all got me really curious.

So.......I want to hear the whole scoop and know all the history and connections etc.

Did Magic start the forum...?? How did he advertise? Where did he live at the time...what city is The AF based from? I once heard Magic left because he went to jail, is this true? I heard Minnie and Fragged met here and then met in person and got married, true? Who are the originals? Where's everyone at now? Mrself and FloodG8-9595 live together? Who else lives together or near or is friends with in person? How did all the members get here in the begining and how do they get here now?

Tell me what you know, I'm looking for the originals to fill me in here....

well, I'd not be so bold as to say I'm an origional member but I've been a member for atleast 3-4 years off an on. I believe Magic did start the site though I'm ignorant as to his inspiration or reason for letting it go.

The story about Fragged and Minnie is true. I used to live with Fragged (2 years + ago) when I first started posting here and after I moved in with Mrself, Fragged moved up to live with Minnie (who came to visist here first).

Mrself and I are in the same band and have known each other for eons (since childhood)..... hummmmm.... can't think of anything else right now...

You've been here for 3-4 years? Holy, how long has this place been here? When did it start?
The three of you know each other? Who was coming here first and got the others to come?

I met fragged nearly 5 years ago and he's the reason I started posting here... infact I think I can go ahead a credit Mrself's posting here to Fragged as well...

I think it's safe to say that Minnie was here before me and so was Magic also Tak, Stasi, Red exct. most of the mods and admins are oldschoolers.

im not good on names but i used to post in the old forum, i stoppped posting not long after it changed because fragged used to tell us off like little kiddies for swearing... i was also fed up with spending too much time on the net so i disconnected for a few months
i remember fragged, red, tak, will, legend, minnie & stasi - there were more but they escape me
its weird posting here again after all this time!

Hmm, GG's spelling was better back then. Only a few mistakes such as Promine.

I love picking up on other peoples bad spelling when I'm not able to spell very well. Ah the joys of a hypocrite.

EDIT: I came shortly before the end of the old and beginning of the new. And, if my memory serves me right, I was the person who who made Magic do the new forum by being the tenth or whatever person to say do it.

Red is in the hospital having a large, turkey gaggle-like hemmerhoid removed. Afterwards, he's going to go feed it to the local squirrels.

Just came out of the hospital, still in lot of pain but I'm ok. This medication I'm on has a 50% chance of killing me but it's a small percent doctors arn't worried about so I'll be fine.

AF's history... wow makes me look back in the day. It was great. I remember landing on the proboards version of AF desperate for a friendly forum. That was after being rediculed at pcquanda.com (was actually pcnineoneone.com at that time) and being banned for no reason at bitbenderforums.com. My own forum started around then, a basic yabb board on a win98 server. Months after I joined AF it was switched to a real host and domain and I was starting more and more to feel at home, it was great.

Now, I find things have gone downhill, a major lack of activity has striken in the past year or so. I remember pulling off a few hundred posts per day. Hopefully I can think of something to make it back like it was, but there's so many good members missing. Greeneyes, katina, xmiminc... and I most likely missed a bunch more.

There's been soap opera situations here and there but in general that era is long gone, but has left us with a dent in activity, assuming those situations were the cause.

Yes, but as the average age of members here had decreased, the types of posts and drama people have complained about increased.

Magic started the forum back in 2001 I believe. I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU FORGOT TO MENTION MEGASPAZ!!

Oh I'm also curious.....the member number starts at one and goes to like 280 here...I was just wondering out of the active members now who is the closest to 1? Is it Red at 4? I know it's not acuurate for the old forum as well but still....
