Spammers are getting desperate

Post by Brooklynite »

I recently got some spam in my e-mail with this title: grew /lAGGRRA. ClAALL1S, XAANAX, /ALl1UM, AMBlEEN, ALPRAAZ0LAM, ATlVAN; TRAMAD00L thats twenty-one ran each. They are obviously spelling the words wrong so that they can get past spam filters. These people are getting really desparate. These spammers seriously need to get a life and stop wasting our time with their annoying ads.

Spammers are getting desperate

I've been getting those for a long time. It's rediculus. 90% of the spam I get is not even trying to sell me anything, it's just to bother the hell out of me.

Also, they do anything to stay on top, even change the year to 2037. That's a flaw in the email protocol, the date should be based on when the server received the email, not when the sender sends it.

Oh and the numbers in brackets indicate the points the email got. It needs 4 to be considered spam. I'm continuously making new filters to stop spam, there's always some that manages to make it through but lot of it ends up in that box.

Now why can't the companies in these unsolicited advertisements/spam be held liable? Go to the source. :jack:

Well this one spam I kept getting actually had their site. So I DoSed them for a good 24 hours non stop. Hey, if the goverment won't do anything about these asses, then I will. I need a better DoSing too though, 10 emails per second is too slow for my taste, they deserve more. (Even though I caused an exponential loop on their mail server and cause them to close their domain)

I have not bombed any spammers in a while though, I should do it some more. But now almost everything I get is not even advertising anything so there's no site to DoS.

I should seriously take up hacking though, I could defance their sites and stuff. I'd make their life a living hell by messing with their site but doing small less noticable things. (like rephrasing product descriptions. <_>)

Bah, it's all for a good cause. Not even sure what the laws are here for hacking, I just know it's not considered terrorism like it is in the US, so don't have to worry about getting terrorist status or anything. Most spammers won't bother reporting me anyway, because they risk getting stopped too since I can then contact their ISP (well I do anyway). It's up to goverments to make spam illegal, since it's more destructive then hacking. Hacking should be legalized, what should be illegal is hacking to cause chaos, like stealing cc numbers. But hacking a malicious site/server should be illegalized. Would be great. Think of all the spam sites and child porn sites that could be stopped that way. would be sweet.

Actually, there currently are hacker groups that work with law enforcement to hunt down and procure evidence against child porn proliferators.

Red, what are those strange charachters in your inbox?
How is spam more destructive than hacking? Spam is just a minor annoyance. Hacking can cost companies thousands of dollars.
I think hacking by individuals should be illegal, but hacking by the government to shut down illegal sites should be allowed.

Spammers are getting desperate

Have no clue, those emails make up 80-90% of the spam I get. Spam costs tons of money because of bandwidth costs. Blocking it simply stops it from getting in the inbox, but it still has to hit the server first. Hacking on the other hand, I never understood why companies complain it cost money, same with viruses, just reupload the files and you're back in business.

Had my site hacked when I first started, took me over a whole day to notice (was something less noticable) then 30 seconds to fix it by simply reuploading a file. I was badly organized then, now if my site got hacked, even entirely deleted it would be a matter of minutes before it's up and running, and maybe only a few days worth of posts loss, and that's something that would be shorter if I controlled the server as I'd have automated sql backups. But a company with sensitive data, should have hour based automated backups anyway.

I can understand hacking ebay, or paypal costing money, but that involves more crime too (stealing) but here I'm talking about just defacing a malicious site/server.

The scary part is that the RIAA hacks allot, and causes lot of damage to large networks, but yet are allowed, and those networks can't fight back. So goverment controlled hacking only can be dangeraus for rights. The best though is just pulling the plug on them in the middle of a hacking. But that can't really be done on decentralized networks.

I think there ought to be some sort of tracking device. So whoever abuses the internet, gets DCed from their ISP.

Yeah, but false positives would be an issue. Someone who has a mailing list for example could get blocked even if it's not spam.
