I just got a phone call. The first thing the recording said was, "Please don't hang up." So I hung up. Do they actually think that a mechanical voice asking me not to hang up will keep me on the phone?

Yes. Surveys show that 90% of people love robots and will do what the robots say.

I've gotten calls from real people who sound like they are so bored with having to call people. How can they hope to sell anything?

lol yeah. And I still think it should be illegal, it's like worse then spam. Companies should find more professional ways to sell their products. The do not call list does not work, since why will they even bother to follow it anyway? What they need is to make it illegal, and it should be in the same category as prank calls.

Uh, because they get a nice hefty fine if they don't. It works pretty well, as long as the business is legit, but then making it illegal wouldn't at all help block the non-legit businesses from 'spamming' anyway.

The DNC list has weeded out lots of telemarketers, but I still get a lot of non-profit arses...

When will the ARC learn I have nothing to give them? I value all my old crap!

Just got another call. A real person this time, at least. She wanted to invite my family to the Wisconsin Dells. I hung up on her, too.

To be fair, I often screen my calls and if I don't know the number, they can leave a message. If its an aggressive telemarketer, I'll answer it and tell them to take me off their list and not to call again, I don't really have any problems after that. I'm not on the DNC list.

The wierd ones are when some robot calls you, telling you to call someone else. Now that's just f'd up. No, it's not bad enough that they have to call me, now they want me to call them.

 I know!! What are these telemarketers thinking! :didi:

That just cracks me up when I get a robot call and asks me to hold, after they call me. If you don't want to talk to me why did you call?

I always feel sorry for telemarketers since I was in that job before, so I always say no but I have some fun with them first. Make their night a little bit more exciting!

Wow! That's great! He should move to sales instead of telemarketing. Insurance is tough. What kind of insurance does he work in?

i have no idea. but he had been working at target, but his manager laid off him because there were to many people. so he went back to his old job, telemarketing, just so he could get some money. the place he is working at though, is about to be going out of business. so he is working there until it does, so he can get some good money.

You don't know what kind of insurance he is working with? He's your boyfriend? They are going out of business and they pay that much? Strange.
