Client 6.0.5.0 crashing

Post by dprantl »

Anyone else have clients crashing when attacking the black order mages in the citadel? My client will crash in 10 seconds - 1 minute when fighting one of those, but I can kill ratmages and gargoyles all day and not crash... and this was not happening with client 6.0.3.0 at all.

I'll go check.

Yup, you're right. Might be something packet wise or something with mantras.

Probably some spell not appearing properly with the mantras. Red's looking into it. I left a warning stone in the citadel for now until the problem is solved.

Didn't think about the mantras. Was tired and can't remember if I had problems at the blackhole last night or not, but almincrus was crashing me a lot.

We're kind of confused as to why it crashes, we tried different stuff to see if its like clothing or something, no go. Don't think its the mantras since the elves and other humanish creatures don't cause crashes.

Well, I can tell you with 100% certainty that it never did this before the Dec 1 update:

Ya we're trying to pinpoint the problem and have not yet figured it out. Does not seem to be mantras as we checked that part. Seems to be something with the melee but there's no event object coded in it. Therefore we need to test it a lot more. Think it's along the same scale as the lamias crashing brunus awhile back when they inflicted sleep on him. Something about overhead messages causing the client to crash. Real odd.

Also, as it's a client related crash there's no script related log so it's a lot more difficult to pinpoint and track unless you're particularly skilled at reading thousands of lines of disassembled code.

I'm in exam week so red's the only one that can look at this for the time being until my exams end after friday (And red's swamped with other coding fixes. I question if he even sleeps).
