AF - Closing Down?

Me and Magic have discussed and everything is under control now I officially took it.

The data is being transfered to my local server and meanwhile I'm setting up my host as well, and everything is working so far. The bandwidth won't be a problem since this site actually does not use as much, and once I optimize my site I should be able to make up for the bandwidth anything. (I'm using pngs that are not optimized and I'm looking into those options)

So in other words I'll be the official new owner, and thanks to Magic for that.

In terms of adminship don't worry I won't be changing a thing.

Once I'm 100% confident all is smooth I'll update the domain ASAP for propatigation to take place so if it takes place fast where you live you may get errors and stuff don't worry.

For the record, the current IP is 66.113.130.200 and the new one will be 67.15.0.28.

Yeah I will for sure put ads, it's really the only way to pay. To make things simple I'll just throw both Iceteks and AF in the same budget. So about 500 bucks to start off.

(I just need to rename the budget from "iceteks" to "sites")

I'll also work on spider friendly urls, that's how I get all the traffic at Iceteks. I may have to put more forums public since allot are private but these are all issues that can go in their own thread once I get to them.

Files are still downloading as I speak. I *could* upload them at the same time assuming it will pick the same order through the directory structure but to be safe I'll wait till it's all done. I still need to do the database dump which may take a while. But it's not my first time switching a site to a different server so nothing should go wrong.

one thing i forgot to mention though, the pay for this year is severely overdue, so this transfer hopefully should occur quickly before i get disconnected, possibly withing the next 10 days.

Got 100MB left to download.

BTW nobody upload anything (attachments, avatars etc) since it will probably get lost. But posts don't worry since the database dump did not start and I'll make everything read only when I do start it so things might be closed for an hour or so since I'll have to dump it to my computer, then put it on my host so that should take at least an hour.

This is an opportunity to reshuffle or reorganize if desired, I don't know if Red is thinking anything, but it might be interesting. (Mandatory AF tattoos! Do it Red! Make it a rule!)

Yeah it's funny. Freaky that you posted that because I just finished updating AF to that and came here and saw what I just put in the box.

Figured I'd do it now to ensure minimum downtime since propatigation takes a while.

Yeah I have stuff in mind. Main thing is spider friendly urls, and perhaps a forum archive like I have at Iceteks. Mind you I won't have time to spend as much time in maintenance stuff as Iceteks but I will be sure to keep things going smooth, do backups as often as the rest of my DBs. (same control panel so it will be just as easy)

Everyone take note of 66.113.130.200 somewhere in case propatigation is a little too fast in your area since the domain is updated. I'll do the transfer later on so that way it will be on my account and easier to manage both domains from the same account. This will be a new experience for me to own 2 actual domain sites.

It will hopefully be all ready within a few hours. The main issue is that I need java for the ssh thingy since it's web based.

But I can always install it then disable it.

download complete, now uploading to the server so once that's done I'll move on to mysql, this will require to put the forum in readonly mode for a bit.

Crap it's not complete, it errored out
