Here's my way of making Christmas last
June = summer is here, it will go by fast and be gone soon
Auguest = getting colder, christmas is closer
September = christmas is coming
November = Christmas is here (well in malls anyway)
December = it REALLY is christmas!

Yeah I find once December hits it's great! I find they comercialize Christmas too much though, but in a way it's also what brings the spirit more. Tends to make people forget the true meaning.

My work at the post office is getting pretty busy, delivering stack after stack of catalogs. Then the packages start coming in December. I am also writing and directing the children's Christmas program for my church. I haven't even started thinking about buying presents for my 5 kids yet.

The trick is to buy gifts a year in advance, on boxing day.

Thats all good and said.. But what if the person your giving the gift to has a problem that same day? ya really can't return it because its past 30 days.Red Squirrel wrote: The trick is to buy gifts a year in advance, on boxing day.

I imagine that this christmas will mostly consist of cider and music for me. It's not really something I'm willing to spend money on right now, nor do I have room to store the decorations over the year. When I get a house, it's all on, but for now I don't do much for christmas. I'll probably visit my grandparents for Christmas.

What was Christmas like when you were a child? My dad would give each of us kids 20 dollars to buy what we wanted and we would have one surprise gift. Of course, 20 dollars went a lot further in the 60's and 70's than it does now. My younger brother and sister and I would increase our present count by finding things around the house to wrap up for each other. One year my brother wrapped up a used lightbulb for me. Another year, I gave my brother a rock. I did use a magic marker to draw a face on it, so it was legitimately a pet rock. He gave it back to me the next Christmas.

For me, since I was a kid and even now, I'd have to say I get at least $200 worth of gifts from my parants alone. I can't say we're not spoiled on Christmas.

Thanks for the countdown. Christmas is such a nice time of the year, but I agree that it is too capitalised. Christmas isn’t about money…seriously.
Your page is the first page I’ve seen in quite some time that utilises layer tags.

The commercialization of it is bad..and good. Listen, if it wasnt all over tv and postesr and ads then most people would not really care about it. I know jewish people who put up a christmas tree. Of course its not for religious reasons but at the same time, it has an effect on people. We tend to act nice and caring regardless of what religion you practice. Also i like the whole buying gifts part too, just seeing the face of my little cousin when i buy her a gift is a great feeling. Problem is some kids get Waaaay too much and sorta ruins the point.
I might be adding some new cool stuff to it (check the site out again i added a title and bk color) if you have any cool ideas post them.

A row of little candy canes above the countdown would look Christmasy (at least the commercial kind of Christmasy.) A Christmas star shining in one of the upper corners would be cool but it probably wouldn't go with the blue background.Joe wrote: I might be adding some new cool stuff to it (check the site out again i added a title and bk color) if you have any cool ideas post them.
