Actually I'm suprised that there's hardly any hype for these olympics. I only found out about them like a few days ago.

Usually you can't miss olympics since it's all over TV.

That must just be a Canadian thing. We've got like three different channels that are summer Olympics just about all day long. Micheal Phelps picking up something like 8 different medals was a huge deal here. Paul Hamm winning the Gymnastics all-around (though controversial) and Carly Patterson winning the female all-around were also very widely publicized and closely watched.

Yes, the game of Hockey. I'd have to agree. Do you play? Or do you just talk?

It's just that it's pretty sickening to listen to a self-proclaimed computer geek get all cocky about a game that I've played since I was two years old. (high-school and college) Have you ever laced up a pair of skates Red? How Canadian are you?

Especially when this thread was supposed to be about the current Summer Olympics, not the Winter Olympics from two years ago. First gold in fifty years though, must feel pretty good. I can understand why you feel the need to boast at every opportunity.

I used to play hockey, but it was just not my thing. But it does not stop me from promoting other players in my country.

I remember the year we made a rink in the back yard and I used to play with my dad allot.

Oh and we finally won another medal in cycling.

And what most people forget is that our govermentdoes not pay atheletes for training and stuff so the ones that do go to olympics are the ones that are really dedicated and spent their own money and resources to train for it. So a thumbs up to them.

on a serious note, the ONLY thing in my life from any olympics that has even remotely interested me has been the basketball games. The sorryass US men's team this trip does not deserve to win gold.

Yeah, too bad our goverment is too cheap to support athletes. (training and such).

But oh well, it's just for fun and games. We may not have good athletes, we may not have any military period, but we do have freedom.

And snow, lots of it.

Oh and beer that does not taste like tap water.
